Our story

Built on Swann Avenue, raised on relationships.

This is a practice where many patients have been with us for decades, and where new patients say it feels different from the first visit. The reason is simple: we built the office around the people who walk in, not the procedures we perform.

At the office of Dr. Susan D. King and Dr. Sherief Hussein, we have established a reputation of excellence by consistently providing outstanding, state-of-the-art dental care to patients of all ages. Our team is recognized for both their expert skills and their attentive, compassionate demeanor — and many of our patients now bring their whole family in to see us.

Paramount to the success of our practice is the goal of building relationships based on trust. One of the ways we achieve that is by maintaining a position at the forefront of the latest advances in dental technology and continually offering our patients the highest quality services. The other way is simpler: we listen first, recommend second, and never push.

Dr. King was born and raised in a small town in Missouri. After graduating high school, she entered an accelerated dental school program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She then completed a residency in General Dentistry with the University of Florida in St. Petersburg. In 1995, she found her professional home in South Tampa on Swann Avenue, where she has enjoyed treating her patients as though they were family.

Dr. King takes pride in providing thorough and complete dental care in a kind and honest environment. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons — camping, sports, and beach days.

Dr. Hussein is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences and was a walk-on student athlete. He then graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville. He completed an exclusive General Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee hospital in Knoxville, training in the most progressive diagnostic and treatment techniques.

He considers himself a lifetime student and regularly attends continuing-education courses on the latest techniques and materials. Outside the office, the Hussein family loves trying different cuisines around Tampa, hiking, cheering on Tampa sports teams, and soaking up Florida sunshine.

I have been going to Dentistry on Swann for 20 years! I have always gotten the best treatment and service. I moved out of S Tampa years ago and still make the drive to see Dr. King and Dr. Hussein.
